Acoustic Neuromas are slow-growing tumors that reside on the nerve that connects the ear to the brain. They are usually benign, but can cause problems by creating pressure on the brain, nerves and ear as they grow. Dr. Tirino will conduct a hearing test and an MRI to properly diagnose your condition.

Treatment will depend on the size and location of the tumor, your age and your overall health. Since they are slow-growing tumors, Dr. Tirino may opt to watch and wait. Radiation therapy may be applied to stop the growth, or surgery may be the best option. There are risks associated with surgery including nerve damage and hearing loss. Dr. Tirino will explain, in detail, the recommended treatment options to you.
